The First Svaja Order!

Let me take you back to the spring of 2001 when Svaja Art Glass was just starting its journey into the UK market. It was a time of excitement and trepidation as we prepared to exhibit at the NEC Birmingham for the very first time during the Spring Fair. Our collection was unlike anything else at the time, and we were eager to see how it would be received.

Our stand at the exhibition was nicely designed, a colourful oasis amidst the bustling event. Our small team was brimming with hope, yet uncertainty loomed in the air. We couldn’t help but wonder if the British public would embrace our unique creations.

The opening day was slow, and anxiety began to creep in as we watched attendees pass by without much interest. Concerned, I decided to take a break and seek solace in a cup of coffee while observing how others were faring.

As I roamed the exhibition halls, my thoughts raced, and my heart was heavy with doubt. What if our art glass didn’t resonate with the British taste? What if this venture turned out to be a futile endeavour?

Returning to our Svaja stand with a heavy heart, I couldn’t have anticipated the incredible sight that awaited me. My co-director stood there, a broad smile on their face, as they finalized what would forever be etched in our memories – THE FIRST SVAJA ORDER!

Incredibly, our very first customer was none other than the esteemed Wing On Department Store Chain from Hong Kong. It was a moment of sheer disbelief and joy. That humble beginning marked the inception of a journey that would lead us to collaborate with all the major department stores in the UK, prestigious art galleries, and exclusive furniture boutiques globally. The list of our accomplishments would continue to grow.

But amidst all the success and growth, I would always remember that first order from Wing On Department Store. It was the spark that ignited our confidence, and it assured us that we were on the right path. It was a testament to our vision and the colourful dreams we dared to bring to life.

As I reflect on that momentous occasion, I’m reminded that every great journey begins with a single step, and ours began with that very first Svaja order. It was a reminder that, with determination and passion, we could turn our artistic vision into reality.
